Packing and Transporting Kitchen Appliances

Unlike your furniture, books and clothes, kitchen appliances are fragile items to pack and move. If not properly prepared and transported, they can get damaged, and you will have to spend money to replace them. You can avoid this hassle and spare yourself from unnecessary purchases by packing them right and transporting them the proper way so that both your kitchen appliances and cooking utensils arrive intact and in good condition at your final destination. The following are a few tips that you might like to consider on this matter.

First, clean your appliances properly and cover them with bubble wrap or towels. This will protect your appliances from getting scratched or damaged by cushioning them against the bumps on the road. In addition, make sure that you put them in separate boxes. As much as possible, do not pack two appliances in one box. Do not forget as well to put some padding on the boxes. You can use old newspapers, Styrofoam, and towels to keep the inside of the box tight enough to prevent the appliance from moving around.

Second, mark your boxes with a "Fragile" note. Do this so that you, or whoever you hire to help you with the move, can easily identify them. Unless you are using a professional removal company, there is no guarantee that your boxes will not get carelessly handled.

Lastly, position the boxes properly in the car. All kitchen appliances are best kept standing upright throughout the journey. If your vehicle is crammed with a lot of other items to be transported that it makes it impossible for the appliances to be kept upright, then lay them on their backs. If possible, do not place them in a position where they can get easily crushed by more durable items. So, put them on top or separate them from the others.
