Eating Healthy Food during Family Trips

Going on a holiday with your family is one of the great ways that you can do to bond with one another. However, it can present you with problems, especially with regard to the food that your children eat during the trip. Since you cannot bring your kitchen appliances with you, such as your trusty food processor, for preparing meals, you would need to look for easy-to-make food alternatives so that your family can continue to consume the right type of edibles.

If you will be going camping or trekking, for example, you can create your own trail mix by combining different foods that your family likes. You can get some peanuts and put them together with dried fruits like raisins, so your kids can munch on these tasty treats while you are exploring the wilderness. You can also pack some vegetables in a re-sealable bag or container, along with a dip, that all of you can dig into during your rest periods. Some great combos that you can try out are celery with peanut butter, or carrots with ranch dressing.

One other thing you can do is to slice some pita bread into triangular shapes, place these on a sheet pan, spray the slices with a bit of olive oil, and sprinkle some salt on top of the pita. Then bake everything until the bread turns golden brown. So, if your children wish to have something to snack on while walking, give them the pita bread as a healthier alternative to potato chips.

Finally, do not forget to make sure that you have all other stuff essential for travelling, such as the right kind of luggage or bags, footwear, etc. By preparing all these things beforehand, you can have a great trip that is free of hassles.
